What boiler repair with DM Heating and Cooling involves
Boiler repair starts with finding the actual fault rather than changing the part that most often fails. We test the appliance and the system around it (gas pressure, flue, condensate, circulation, controls and expansion) because a boiler that keeps locking out is frequently reporting a problem that sits outside the casing.
All gas work is carried out under our Gas Safe company registration, number 552490. Dan, Dean and their sons Owen and Jack are all individually Gas Safe registered under that company registration, so a fault that takes some engineers several return visits is usually identified on the first.
Once we know what is wrong you get a plain answer and a written price. If a repair is sensible we repair it. If the appliance is at the end of its life and the money is better spent on a replacement, we will say so rather than sell you a part that buys a few months.

Why it matters
What it costs you to leave a faulty boiler
A boiler that needs resetting every few days is not a quirk, it is a warning. Intermittent faults become total failures, and they nearly always become total failures during the first cold week of the year when engineers are hardest to book.
A struggling appliance also burns gas producing heat that never reaches your rooms, so the running cost climbs quietly while you wait. Where circulation or system water is the underlying cause, the damage keeps spreading to the pump and heat exchanger.
There is a safety side too. Badly maintained gas appliances are associated with carbon monoxide risk, and any work by someone who is not Gas Safe registered is both illegal and uninsurable.
Common mistakes we're called in to fix
- Repeatedly resetting a boiler that is reporting a genuine fault
- Replacing parts on guesswork instead of diagnosing the system
- Ignoring low pressure that keeps dropping: that is a leak, not a top-up job
- Letting anyone who is not Gas Safe registered touch a gas appliance
Our process
Our boiler repair process
- 1
Talk it through
Tell us the symptoms and any fault code on the display. It often tells us what to bring before we arrive.
- 2
Diagnosis on site
We test the appliance and the system feeding it, so we fix the cause rather than the symptom. No call-out fee for an estimate.
- 3
Clear written price
You get the price and the honest repair-versus-replace answer before we do the work.
- 4
Repair and test
The repair is carried out, the appliance re-tested, and the system checked to confirm the fault has actually gone.
- 5
Handover and guarantee
We explain what failed and why, leave the site clean, and back the work with our 1-year workmanship guarantee.

In detail
Boiler repair in more detail
The questions homeowners in Maidstone and Medway ask us most when a boiler stops behaving.
Pressure that keeps dropping
A sealed heating system should hold its pressure for months. If yours needs topping up weekly there is water escaping somewhere: a radiator valve, a pipe joint under a floor, or the boiler's own expansion vessel or pressure relief valve.
Topping it up repeatedly introduces fresh oxygenated water every time, which accelerates corrosion inside radiators and the heat exchanger. Finding and fixing the loss is always cheaper than the damage it causes.
Repair or replace
The sensible test is the cost of the repair against the remaining life of the appliance and the parts still available for it. A single fault on a well-installed boiler with years left in it is worth repairing.
A boiler that has had several significant faults, is scaled or sludged, or has obsolete parts is money spent twice. In that case see our boiler installation page, where a new appliance comes with a free survey, a written estimate and manufacturer registration.
Prevention afterwards
Most of the repairs we attend could have been caught during an annual service. Once the fault is fixed, an annual boiler service keeps the appliance safe, efficient and, for most manufacturers, within the terms of its warranty.
Where the underlying cause is dirty system water, a power flush clears the sludge out so the same fault does not return next winter.
