What a bathroom installation with us involves
A full bathroom installation covers everything behind the tiles as well as everything you see: stripping the old room out, first-fix pipework and waste runs, the bath, basin, WC and shower, the heating or towel rail, and the finishing that makes the room watertight.
It is the same family team throughout. Dan, Dean and their sons do the work, so the people who quoted the room are the people in it, and there is no chain of subcontractors to chase when something needs deciding.
You can see the rooms we have finished on our work page, before, during and after photographs of real installations rather than showroom pictures.
- Strip-out, first fix, second fix and finishing
- Baths, basins, WCs, showers and towel rails
- Fully insured: £5m public, £10m employers' liability
- Clean, tidy work and a properly finished room
Why it matters
Where bathroom projects go wrong
Bathrooms fail behind the surface, not on it. Waste runs with the wrong fall, pipework that is not properly supported, and sealing done in a hurry all look perfect on handover day and cause damage six months later.
Split trades are the other common problem: a plumber, a tiler and an electrician each working to their own schedule, with the gaps between them becoming the homeowner's problem to manage.
Then there is the pressure question. A beautiful new shower fed by a system that cannot supply it is a disappointment that no amount of tiling fixes.
Common mistakes we're called in to fix
- Choosing fittings before anyone has checked the water pressure that has to feed them
- Leaving waste and pipe runs to be improvised once the room is stripped
- Rushing the sealing and waterproofing to hit a finish date
- Managing three separate trades yourself and owning every gap between them

In detail
Bathroom installation in more detail
The decisions that make the difference between a bathroom that lasts and one that does not.
Layout and pipework
Moving a WC or a bath is not just a matter of where it looks best, waste runs need fall, and that fall dictates what is possible within the floor build-up you have.
We work this out at survey stage so the layout you agree is a layout that can actually be built, not one that has to be compromised halfway through.
Water pressure and hot water
The most common disappointment in a new bathroom is a shower that dribbles. That is almost always a supply problem rather than a fitting problem.
Where pressure or hot water capacity is the limiting factor, an unvented cylinder or a water main upgrade is the fix: see our hot water cylinders and water mains page.
Finishing and sealing
Sealing is the last job and the one most often rushed. Done properly, with the right preparation and curing time, it is what keeps water out of the structure for years.
We would rather take the extra day than hand over a room that will need attention next summer.

10/10 · New Air Conditioning Installed
"From my first enquiry to completion of works I found them to be very courteous, hard working and competitively priced. Dan carried out a full survey and gave a cost breakdown for works. A date was booked and the guys turned up on time and work was completed within the given timescale. They were very polite and tidy and even vacuumed after completion. I am so happy with my new hot/cold air conditioning unit which will enable me to work comfortably from home and sleep at night. They even sorted my dripping tap free of charge! I would highly recommend DM Heating and Cooling."
